In the sixth month Gabriel came from God,
to Nazareth in Galilee.
He visited the virgin betrothed to old Joseph,
and the virgin’s name was Mary.

“Hail O’ full of grace!”, was the angel’s greeting,
The Lord is with thee!
You have found favor with God, fear not.
Behold! A child you will conceive.

He will be great, the Son of the Most High,
said the Messenger;
David’s throne is His, He reigns over the House of Jacob
and of His Kingdom there will be no end.

Mary asked, “How can this be?”
With child and no husband?”
The Angel replied,
“With God nothing is impossible for
Elizabeth is now six months along and
she is old and was barren.”

Young virgin girl, favored by God,
The Holy Spirit will come upon you.
Your womb will be more spacious than the heavens
Once overshadowed by the Most High.

This child you bear will be called holy,
the Son of God,
as Gabriel told her the good news,
and his name is Jesus.

The Virgin Mary said,
as the Archangel Gabriel waited in expectation,
“I am the handmaid of the Lord.”
as the world waits for salvation.
“Let it be according to your word.”

  1. Dear in Christ Leah,

The Annunciation is the anniversary of my baptism as well.

I wanted to let you know that the font color for the St. Sergius of Radonezh page is almost illegible on the beautiful dark blue background. This page’s colors work well though.

Thank you for a beautiful blog.
